Dec 2003 East Brixton station closed in 1976 and Brixton remains without access to this useful railway line - despite the promises made by the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone in late 2003 (it was proposed that the disused platforms at Brixton station could be reopened to serve this line).

I suspect that keeping the "Junction" in the name helps to keep it from being mistaken for Loughborough.

Anyway, the A60 begins where it always has, namely at a junction with the A6 near Loughborough railway station.
A mile or so after these junctions the A6514 joins from the left: this is part of the Nottingham western ring road, but its number doesn't appear on the signs, and there's no sign to Loughborough for southbound traffic.
In very early days the preferred way to Nottingham from Leicester was via Loughborough, the Fosse Way being narrow and lonely, a situation unhelpful to early motorists prone to breaking down in the middle of nowhere.
