Louis Joseph Maria Beel was born on April 12, 1902 in Roermond, a town with a Bishop's see in the province of Limburg, in the very south of The Netherlands.
Beel was urged to accept the function of advisor to the Military Administration (Militair Gezag), the temporary government in the liberated southern part of The Netherlands under Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Forces (SHAEF).
Beel was promptly appointed Minister of the Interior in the third Gerbrandy cabinet.

Louis Joseph Maria Beel was born on April 12, 1902 in Roermond, a town with a Bishop's see in the Dutch province of Limburg, in the very south of The Netherlands.
Drees appointed Dr. Beel High Commissioner of the Crown in the Dutch East Indies (now named Indonesia), as a successor to Lieutenant Governer General Dr. Van Mook, a man of proven managerial abilities, who unwillingly had to resign.
On February 11, 1977 Dr. Beel died in the Lord's blessing in the University Hospital of Utrecht.
