Theosophy Library Online - Great Teacher Series - LOUIS CLAUDE DE SAINT-MARTIN
Louis Claude, Comte de Saint-Martin (January 18, 1743 - October 13, 1803) led a gentle and blameless life in the midst of the holocaust of the French Revolution.
He joined Cagliostro, Mesmer and Saint Germain at the Wilhelmsbad Masonic Convention of 1782 and the Paris Convention of 1785.
Saint-Martin refused because of its psychic interests, though he often met with members whose convictions were primarily spiritual.

The Grail Quest and The Destiny of Man - Alchemy and Saint Germain by Laura Knight-Jadczyk
It was said that Saint-Germain appeared in Wilhelmsbad in 1785, a year after he was supposed to have died, and he was accompanied by the magician Cagliostro, the hypnotist Anton Mesmer, and the "unknown philosopher," Louis Claude de St. Martin.
In 1760, Louis sent Saint-Germain to the Hague as his personal representative to arrange a loan with Austria that was supposed to help finance the SevenYears' war against England.
Pretty soon the Count had Louis XV and his mistress, Madame de Pompadour, eating out of his hand, and it certainly COULD be true that he was a French spy in England when he was arrested there, because he later did handle some sticky business for the credulous king of France.

 Great Theosophists--Louis Claude De Saint-Martin (26 of 29)
Louis Claude de Saint-Martin, the "unknown philosopher" of the eighteenth century, was born in Amboise on January 18, 1743.
(It is interesting that when the boy was fifteen years old the Count de St. Germain was living in the Chateau of Chambord, only a few miles away.) Out of respect for the wish of his father, who expected him to enter the legal profession, the young Saint-Martin studied law for a while.
Saint-Martin refused because of their interest in psychic phenomena.
