Lansana Conté (born 1934) has been the President of Guinea since 3 April 1984.
In 1955, he enlisted in the French army and was posted to Algeria during the war of independence in 1957.
Prime Minister Louis Lansana Beavogui acted as interim president.

Signatories on the first series of banknotes were the finance minister Alioune Drame and the minister of the economy, Louis Lansana Beavogui.
Louis Lansana Beavogui, in 1956 along with Sekou Toure was elected to the French National Assembly from Guinea.

It was LANSANA BEAVOGUI, not Louis.He died from natural causes although you might say from a broken heart; as Prime Minister under Sekou Toure, he was supposed to take over at the latter's death.He was from the minority Gissi tribe.
