The Honourable Louis Joseph Robichaud, PC, CC, BA, LL.D (October 21, 1925 - January 6, 2005), popularly known as "Little Louis" or "Ti-Louis" (due both for his short height and his sharing a name with "Uncle Louis" St. Laurent), was a Canadian lawyer and politician.
Elected to the New Brunswick legislature in 1952, he became provincial Liberal leader in 1958 and led his party to victory in 1960, 1963 and 1967 before its defeat by Richard Hatfield's Conservatives in 1970.
Robichaud also restructured the municipal tax regime, ending the ability of business of playing one municipality against another in order to extract the lowest tax rates.

Robichaud's passing also impacted on me because of how closely my relationship with my own late father was coloured and made richer by his passionate defence and unbridled enthusiasm for Louis Robichaud, the politician.

It was called the Program of Equal Opportunity and it was implemented by a fiery young premier named Louis Robichaud, a Liberal who was so genuinely liberal that most of today's socialists would pale by comparison.
Robichaud came from eastern Kent County and was the province's first Acadian premier.
One of the people who best understood the value of the program was Richard Hatfield, the Conservative premier who defeated Robichaud at the polls in 1970 and was expected by many still angry opponents to dismantle it or at least introduce drastic modifications.
