		En la simbolaro de la Okcidenta Civilizo kaj ankaŭ de la tutmonda lingvo Esperanto, verdo estas koloro de ''espero'', kaj tial atribuita ankaŭ al la lingvo kaj al ĝia ĉefa simbolo, la kvinpinta stelo, kaj baldaŭ al la flago.
		La rekomendo de Louis DE BEAUFRONT aperigi verdan stelon sur la kovrilo de ĉiu esperanto-libro tiel populariĝis, ke la papero mem por tiuj kovriloj estis ofte (pale) verda, ekzemple la fama libroserio sub la respondeco de D-ro Zamenhof ĉe Hachette.
		Antonomazie "verdulo" fariĝis sinonimo de esperantisto, kun milde ironia nuanco, kaj "verda" sinonimo de esperantista (pli ol Esperanta).

		The most formidable rival of Esperanto is unquestionably Idiom Neutral (2902).
		It is the collective work of the Akademi internasional de lingu universal, its real author being the director of the Akademi, M. Rosenberger, of St Petersburg.
		This academy was originally instituted by the two international Volapuk congresses in 1887 and 1889: it now numbers among its members not only many former adherents of the defunct Volapuk, but also many ex-Esperantists.
