A recent analysis of the three-lake system, which surrounds the Louisiana State Capitol and Governor's Mansion, also shows that sediment and fish may remain contaminated enough to pose health risks to people.
Sediments in the largest lake of the three are so polluted that contact with them could pose unacceptable cancer and other health risks, according to the state Department of Environmental Quality.
