 Christian Views on Marriage
They are quiet lives of great dedication, gradually deepening their commitment and love and because of their faith in Jesus they truly believe in the capacity of the human heart to love to the end.
Marriage is given, that husband and wife may comfort and help each other, living faithfully together in need and in plenty, in sorrow and in joy.
The church sees marriage as a sacrament when entered into by two baptised persons and believes that a marriage entered into freely by a man and a woman consummated by sexual intercourse cannot be dissolved.

 Views about marriage?--Ummah.comGeneral
While arranged marriages are not illegal in the US, generally the overwhelming perspective is that it is critical that the couple is compatible and in love, and therefore self-selection of a life mate is the social norm.
One of the keys to a succesful marriage is the ability to have good conflict resolution skills..there are going to be ups and downs but if you can't work problems out, you're in for a miserable ride..at least in the Western institution.
Also, it would definitely be illegal for an arranged marriage to be performed if it is against the will of either the bride or the groom, or if the legal age requirements have not been met.

 Divorce Marriage From Gay Love
Although EGALE has adopted a policy supporting each religion's freedom to choose whether or not to marry same-sex couples, evangelicals have spent more than $1-million in the courts in the past few years defending their right to hold their religious views.
I think the view we take here is that there's no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation … what's done in private between adults doesn't concern the Criminal Code.
"When we change the definition of marriage, it is going to have some fundamental implication [on] how we see parenthood—the connection of children to parents—because as a society we are sensing that we are no longer privileging … this special connection of children to their natural parents.

 Reason
Marriage licenses do not distinguish between people who marry for love and people who marry for money, or between couples who plan to have children and couples who don't.
Atheists and agnostics have been known to marry, after all, and states recognize unions—between Jew and non-Jew, for example, or between Catholics whose earlier marriages have not been annulled—that are forbidden by religious law.
The government has become so entangled in marriage that people have trouble distinguishing between the conditions for obtaining a license and the conditions for maintaining an institution that predates such requirements by thousands of years.

From the cultural and religious views of marriage to the personal experiences of both the married and single, everyone has an opinion and everyone from your friends to your co-workers to your parents will tell you what they think about their marriage, your marriage, the President's marriage and so on.
I realize that this is a little aside, but marriage is marriage, whether it is a civil or religious ceremony or gay or straight.
While I support and love him, it was hard for me to accept the concept of gay marriage at first because I viewed the vows that my husband and I spoke under the chuppah (Jewish wedding canopy) as sacred before God.

Articles - Hindu views of homosexuality
Nowhere in the Hindu sacred texts is romantic love excluded to all but a man and woman, so there are no religious grounds to make a statement to the contrary.
Hindu views of homosexuality are varying and diverse, much more so then in other religions.
Since homosexuals can experience romantic love, homosexual sexual relationships are not all the product of lust.

The religious fanatic is like a stuck record, in the sense that his religious views are all he ever wants to talk about, and if he ever talks about anything else, he eventually brings the subject back to his religious views.
Indeed, the religious fanatic typically loves no one else at all; he has no room in his heart for persons, since all of his love is directed toward a doctrine.
Both the fanatic and the truly religious person love their religion, but unlike the truly religious person, the fanatic does not obey her, and, as a result, does not fully honor her, either.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Religious Toleration
By religious toleration is understood the magnanimous indulgence which one shows towards a religion other than his own, accompanied by the moral determination to leave it and its adherents unmolested in private and public, although internally one views it with complete disapproval as a "false faith".
The motive for this difference of attitude is to be sought in the ethical commandment of love for all men, which Christianity has raised to the higher ideal of charity or love of neighbour for the sake of God.
Tolerance and religious liberty are not, however, interchangeable terms, since the right implied in state tolerance to grant full or limited religious liberty involves the further right to refuse, to contract, or to withdraw this freedom under certain circumstances, as is clear from the history of toleration laws in every age.

Religious Intolerance and the Christian Right
Gladly admitting to intolerance, they deny their doctrinal views are subject to interpretation and simply state their beliefs are THE TRUTH.
Many who are Christian have a deeply held faith in God, Christ and the Holy Spirit and a great desire to serve and love their fellow man. Their faith is fully consistent with the teachings of Christ in the gospels of Mark, Matthew, Luke, John and Thomas.
Unfortunately, intolerance is alive and kicking in many of today's religions and philosophies and/or those that claim to be their practitioners.

The book, in contrast with the views found in psychoanalysis, does not consider falling in love as regressive.
For Alberoni falling in love is of the same nature as religious or political conversion.

Love - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Most religions use the term love to express the devotion the follower has to their deity, who may be a living guru or religious teacher.
There are probably elements of truth in both views — certainly love is influenced by hormones (such as oxytocin) and pheromones, and how people think and behave in love is influenced by their conceptions of love.
Similarly, compassionate outreach and volunteer workers 'love' of their cause may be borne not of interpersonal love, but impersonal love coupled with altruism and strong political convictions.

 M. Scott Peck - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
His religious views are criticized by some fundamentalist Christians (for example, Debbie Dewart).
The section mainly attacks a number of misconceptions about love: that it is about dependency, that true love is "falling in love", that love is a feeling.
Peck's works combined his experiences from his private psychiatric practice with a distinctly religious point of view.

Some question whether the groups are better than government-run programs, and some say the groups are pushing their religious views on people in vulnerable situations.
Bush says religious groups should not be discriminated against in federal funding and that because of their faith, they can be more effective at helping the needy.
"Government has got to find ways to empower those whose mission is based upon love, in order to help those who need love find love in society," Bush said at a White House-sponsored conference on faith-based and community initiatives.

FT January 2001: Fragments of Ancient Faith
The Grimm fairy tales, he tells us in The Owl, The Raven, and the Dove, are profound religious tales suffused with “a diachronic ecumenical spirituality woven around love and faith.” As such, they reflect in particular the religious interests of Wilhelm Grimm (1786—1859), the frailer and more romantic of the brothers.
The concern of Wilhelm is with the amazing continuity over time of the act of belief, hope, and love, the goodness of the human heart and its perversity, expressed in religious poetry.
It is Wilhelm upon whom Murphy showers his attention, and it is Wilhelm who provides us with the keys to the Grimms’ religious views.

True Christians are unfairly expected to defend and excuse all acts of religious systems that do not now, and never have, represented their views.
If you love your neighbor as yourself, and know all people are equally loved by God, can you belong to a religious system that does not love and respect those who are not members of it, and falsely teach God only favors members of their denomination and beliefs - their religious system?
If a religious system has recorded bad behavior, Christians need to make the distinction applicable and refuse to defend such a system.

Indeed, one metapoetic theme in Herbert's poems, including in some anthologized in NAEL, is how religious poetry could be just as attractive to author and reader as secular poetry.
Since his schooling and cleverness matched Donne's, it is no wonder that Herbert wanted to demonstrate his ingenuity in verse like the influential Donne, but with the difference that all the verse would be religious, none secular.
(4) (a) For comparison-contrast to Herbert's "A Dialogue-Anthem" [No. 89] (debat, dialogue poem), one of the most famous examples of this genre or subgenre (representing a debate between opposing views or attitudes) is Andrew Marvell's "A Dialogue Between the Soul and Body" (in NAEL), which you should look up in NAEL.

Philosophy is, literally, "the love of wisdom," both practical and theoretical.
During this period religious belief was under attack and in response some philosophers defended new forms of rational defense of religious belief, while others defended religion on non-rational grounds.
To put it differently, film expresses in concrete form the ideas that philosophy discusses in abstract terms, such as views of the world inhabited by human beings, views of the nature of human freedom and rationality, and views of good and evil.

Peck, on the other hand, views grace variously as one’s health, unconscious events like dreams or idle thoughts, and serendipity or synchronicity in which seemingly accidental and unrelated occurrences are actually meaningful events that affect our lives.
Here Peck reveals himself as a believer in the Eastern religious world view known as pantheistic monism: all is one and one is all; God is all and we are God.
Peck’s idea of love is obviously quite foreign to the Christian view, which teaches that true love is sacrificial, nonselfish at its heart.
