My older brother had a friend who worked in the tower at Love Field during WW ll.
An RAF plane flying into Love Field and hearing a strange voice on the radio speaker "Hello, Love Aerodrome, Hello Love Aerodrome, This is RAF #---- requesting permission to land, etc.
One of the men who worked in the tower kept a salt shaker in one of the radio cabinets where it was hot and the salt would stay dry.
