		Love Metal is HIM's fourth album, released on April 14, 2003.
		This is HIM's first album that does not feature Ville Valo on the cover.
		On February 1, 2005 the regular edition of this album was released in the U.S. under Universal Records licensed by Jimmy Franks Recording Company.

	"Love Metal" by HIM
		This album kicks off with a heavy "Buried Alive by Love", a song with hard-hitting guitar riffs and a fast tempo -- this track is a bit of a surprise from HIM as their focus is usually more on love ballads with a slight metal twist.
		Indeed, any fan of love songs will also enjoy this album with its passionate lyrics and not too heavy sounds, as it can be said to be neither too "commercial" for metal fans, nor too heavy for anybody else.
		The album's weakest point is perhaps the fact that there is no track which stands out as being the highlight of the album, such as was "Join Me" in "Razorblade Romance", or indeed "Wicked Game" in "Greatest Love Songs" and is in fact quite even sounding overall.

		The bait and switch moniker is a gag contrived by singer-guitarist J. Everett Hughes (death metal handle: "J. Devil Huge") and drummer Carlo Von Sexron (death metal handle: "Baby Duck"), although the real inside skinny is that the latter is actually Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age fame.
		Eagles of Death Metal’s debut Peace Love Death Metal is a raucous outing in the tradition of The White Stripes and North Mississippi Allstars, but after examining the packaging of the album, it’s clear that the group doesn’t take itself too seriously.
		The album also features a terrific boogie-woogie cover of Stealers Wheel’s Stuck in the Middle with You, which has been re-christened with the twisted humor Stuck in the Metal.

		Overall, not the best song on the album but his semi-scream near the end is good and I’ll always enjoy it because it was the first song I ever heard from them.
		I love the opening lines, his voice is really sexy and the introduction leading up to it is great as well.
		This album is amazing although it does peter out at the end due to all the faster songs at the start and it’s one of the very few albums I can listen to all the way through.

		The sound on love metal is the perfect balance between the sharper rock sound of "Razorblade..." and the pop acoustic sound of "Deep Shadows..." There are acoustic guitars but it doesn't kill the song like on their last album.
		The sound of the album is quite unique from the slow-burning sound of "The funeral of hearts" to the hyper-active sound of "Soul on fire" to the brilliant piano intro to "The sacrament".
		The thing I hate most about this album is that there is only 10 tracks and the thing I love most about this album is that these 10 tracks are brilliant and don't have any errors on them.

		One of only a few hard-rock acts to have mainstream success outside their native Scandinavia (I'm told they are huge in Germany), the band has been a guilty pleasure of mine for many years.
		Metal fans may snicker at the band's yearningly romantic lyrics, and may be turned off by this record's loftier gothic rock aspirations, but it's hard not to admire a record so keenly aware of its own strengths.
		Throughout Love Metal there is a reliance on "quiet-loud-quiet-loud" dynamics and standard pop-metal balladry, but H.I.M. avoids cliché by filling the record with a number of inspired industrial production "tricks" and instrumental flourishes that add, rather than distract, from the record's overall pull.

		Album titles are another avenue of information that musicians want to use as methods of artistic expression.
		Heavy metal is not cute, and while it can be clever it should never use flagrant misdirection and confusion when declaring to the world what it is. Oui Avant-Garde a Chance at making sense of album titles if people just get silly with them.
		Pure heavy metal album titles are very useful at identifying the noise inside.

		Having bought this album on the basis of amazon.com reviews, I have to disagree with all the four-star givers out there.
		The recording is rushed and unlike certain great albums (like Beck's Mutations) which benefit from this approach, this album sounds like it came from somebody's parents garage.
		But you'll start to feel that, if anything, Peace Love Death Metal is too short in the sense that you'd like some more to listen to.
