		Their naturalistic and cynical views on love and marriage give this movie the bite and redeeming qualities that keeps it afloat.
		Love does win out, in a rather unconventional but fabulous climax - it's utterly right and I'm amazed that this film is becoming difficult to find and has never really gotten the recognition it deserves.
		She can't express affection toward her father anymore, who repulses her, her behavior is ridiculed by an arrogant woman intellectual at the dinner party, and the guy who gets her pregnant, although he likes her, doesn't really love her, and in some ways doesn't really have her best interests at heart.

		There are some vibrant busy home scenes, Natalie Wood is wonderfully raw, and Elmer Bernstein as always turns in some great music, but there’s so much standing around in between the peaks that it’s safe to say I won’t think about this one much in the future.
		Surprisingly cute ending, though … Steve McQueen has never looked – and probably will never look – better in my eyes, and I love how the moment is shot.
