Lovebug could rock the party on the mic AND one the 1 and 2`s.
The way Lovebug interacted with the crowd and mixed was some other level ****...cats like him influenced Kid Capri and others...Pete Jones told me how he mentored Lovebug and Lovebug himself told me how Thunderbird Johnny, who was his stepfather, taught him the basics.
Lovebug Starski's LP from 86 was weak and I've never heard Busy Bee's LP, but both MCs were past their prime when their LPs came out, so its not fair to use those LPs as a unit of measurement.

The very root of rap and hip hop is the rhythm - in the words as well as in the music that accompanies it.
Back in the 60s, young Djs like Kool DJ Herc, DJ Lovebug Starski, and DJ Hollywood began making a name for themselves by pushing huge speakers down the blocks, mixing records at block parties, and playing with turntables.
Lovebug would put the records on and move them with his hands to make weird sounds with the needle.

How to waste a DJ - The Phoenix   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
To connisseurs of the old school, Lovebug is known for more than merely being the end of couplet.
The lack of actual dancing was not for want of effort on the part of the selector: Lovebug arranged a real decent set, mixing old with new and eventually stirring away from the RandB-centric slow jams he pushed early on.
Liveliness did emerge, however, in the middle of Lovebug’s set — at precisely the stroke of midnight, coincidentally — as two scantily clad sirens appeared at opposite ends of the dance floor, raised aloft on platforms.

Starski is arguably more influential and less known than Shante--one of hip-hop's founding DJs and MCs, he never had much commercial success beyond touring with Run-DMC in the early days.
In Yes Yes Y'all: The Experience Music Project Oral History of Hip-Hop's First Decade (Da Capo, 2002), Afrika Bambaataa remembers Starski as one of the earliest Bronx MCs: "In the early '70s, we was already indoors in many of the community centers in the area [Southeast Bronx].
Starski tells the authors he was introduced to Pete DJ Jones by Grandmaster Flash.

For close to a decade The Fever had been the Mecca of Hip Hop, it was the place where Mele Mel was king, Kurtis Blow was a star, Flash was a legend and Lovebug Starski, made you a believer.
Between 1976 and 1983, guys like Mele Mel and Lovebug Starski were the toast of the streets.

The FADER Magazine - Playing Bas-ket-baaaaaaallll
For the first three quarters the new school team dominated with crazy under-the-leg layups and weirdly successful unplanned fake-out passes, but in the last quarter the old school team’s slow and steady style worked in their favor, and won them the game.
Highlights include Lovebug Starski’s method of charging the hoop, stopping, looking at the net for awhile and then finally taking a shot, and Pete Rock’s kinda aggressive style—surprising, considering we spent the whole game waiting for dude to run over to the bench and sample a Roy Ayers loop or something.
Meanwhile, the new school had Remy Ma disregarding any conventional rules of basketball (and scoring zero points in the process), and Chris Breezy coming out as the obvious star, making girls in the audience literally cry when they saw him and scoring upwards of 30 points (he never passed!)
