Lovell House - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lovell House or the Lovell Health house was a large modernist style house designed and built by Richard Neutra¸in 1929 on a site in Los Angeles, California for the physician Philip Lovell.
Many pictures of the house show only the main body, neglecting the gardens and their concrete retaining walls, and the outbuildings, which together combine to form a work of Art.
Not surprisingly, Philip Lovell was enchanted with the house and praised his architect publicly.

 [Ms. Cora Lovell]
Mrs Lovell's house is as neat and tidy as the proverbial pin.
Lovell was the first woman town clerk in Massachusetts, she was one of the first women tax collectors (served in 1922 and 1923) and she is one of the few women marrying justices in the state.
Lovell recalls her experiences as the first woman town clerk of Massachusetts, not as a series of multifarious, uninteresting duties, but rather as a new experience, from which she derived as much pleasure and amusement, as she did hard work.

 Schindler House
Schindler’s work on the house will forever be a part of history, since the AIA designated the Hollyhock House as one of the projects that should be preserved as a contribution to architecture history.
The floor plan of the house reveals the relationship of the living spaces and bedrooms to outdoor spaces, which was often Schindler’s main concern in designing the layout of his projects.
The house is constructed out of plywood, parts of which are covered by green split stakes typically used for fencing, in order to blend in with the color and texture of the surrounding oak trees.

Schindler's purpose in using the frames was to raise the house above the public beach, and also to develop a skeletal system solid and flexible enough to withstand earthquakes."
