Low (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Live, Low shows a sense of humor not necessarily found on their recordings; a tour in early 2004 featured a cover of OutKast's hit song "Hey Ya." At a gig in Los Angeles on Halloween 1998, the band took the stage as a Misfits tribute act, complete with corpse paint and fl clothing.
The band's mainstream exposure has been limited: their best-known song is arguably a hymnal version of "The Little Drummer Boy," which was featured in a Gap television ad that depicted a snowball fight in slow-motion to match the song's glacial tempo.
Low are hardly a Christian rock group, however, at least in the usual sense: neither Sally's religious affiliation (or lack thereof) nor Parker and Sparhawk's faith is mentioned in their latest press kit.

Low (song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The song is notable for being the first single in which Clarkson explores the "pop rock" element that would later define her career in singles like "Breakaway" and "Since U Been Gone".
In the United Kingdom, "Low" was released as a double A-side single "The Trouble with Love Is", but also performed poorly, peaking at number thirty-five.
After debuting at a rather low number fifty-eight (which just happens to be the peak position of the song in the United States), and the song looked like it was going to achieve small success, it began climbing up the Canadian Singles Chart.

Low - Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me CD Single (Chairkickers)
The first song on this short CD single is "Last Night I Dreamt that Somebody Loves Me," a cover of a song by the Smiths.
The rush of strings in the middle of the song is great, but, outside of the use of strings, this is a traditional Low song in every other way, offering nothing new to the ardent Low listener.
As both of these songs would easily fit on a 7", the necessity to releasing this as a CD (and thus charging $7 instead of $4) is the inclusion of the music video for "Dinosaur Act," the single from Things We Lost in the Fire.

Wings Of Desire - Music: Low
The instruments, the voices in the songs are clear and well defined, lonely as those people staring clocks; the whole vision is perfect, eleven songs, eleven little distributors of emotions.
In the touching simplicity of The Plan, Low seems to try to explain how we could get away from the frenetic reality surrounding us, and then find quiet and happiness between simple things (Mimi and Alan are married and were born and lived in a farm), the ones that often slip us.
The results of these experiments don't seem to be very positive, actually; the songs appear uncompleted, muffled, finally really stripped bare and deprived of their necessary melodies.

Delta reassessing low-cost airline Song | ajc.com   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-31)
In an interview, Song's president, John Selvaggio, insisted the year-old airline could play a critical role as Delta battles other low-fare airlines, like Southwest and JetBlue, for passengers on the Eastern Seaboard and elsewhere in the country.
However, the airline is studying the future of Song under an extensive re-evaluation of its operations that was ordered by its new chief executive, Gerald Grinstein, who assumed his job on Jan. 1, Selvaggio said.
Song, which cost Delta $65 million to develop, was started last April after much fanfare as an airline-within-an-airline, meant to appeal to passengers who have been defecting in droves from major carriers in search of cheaper tickets.

Just because a song has a guitar, a bass, and a drum set providing the tune, it doesn't mean the song is actually rock.

Regardless, the songs were of a similar caliber to those on previous outings, and a whole legion of new fans sprung up.
But rather than overwhelming the song with soaring drama, the strings are incorporated conservatively low in the mix, and generate a warm hum for the sake of ambience.
Were "Like a Forest" the only Low song you'd ever heard, it's unlikely you'd suspect its somewhat psychedelic chord structure and absolutely engaging, see-sawing vocals were the product of the progenitors of slowcore.

Released in 1977, Low proved that David had recovered from his somewhat flatulent "plastic soul" period with ease and was still relevant in the face of rock's new generation (Sex Pistols, Ramones, Elvis Costello, The Clash, Wire etc.).
Low ends with a feeling of resignation and doubt, which makes sense given the state of mind the drug-addled Bowie was in; which in turn precipitated his move to Germany.
While parts of Low may not be as listenable as his previous releases, it is groundbreaking in that it established several new genres of music that Bowie confidently marched into.
