 | | A rhumb line, or loxodrome, is a path of constant compass bearing on the earth's surface (or in the air just above the surface). |
 | | Compass bearings are measured as angles away from the northerly direction, so a rhumb line, or loxodrome, crosses every meridian at the same angle. |
