:: MVRemix: Album Reviews - Fat Joe - Loyalty ::
Arriving on the scene in 1993 with his debut album "Represent", which was a gritty street enthused ride through the rough streets of the Bronx.
The album was a good mixture of hard-core joints that Joe has been putting out for years but also a mixture of the more softer, commercial side of Joe.
"Loyalty" is proof that Joe hasn't forgot about the streets, however only one year after his last album it seems as if Joe rushed this album in order to continue his commercial success.

In 1981 came the album Faith (Loyalty or allegiance to a cause or a person), which hit #14 on the UK charts, as well as an instrumental soundtrack for the film Carnage Visors (these were packaged together as a long-play cassette called Faith/Carnage Visors).
The album's title was taken from a line in the song "Killing an Arab." This release was accompanied by a video version called Staring at the Sea and by another tour, as well as a live concert film called The Cure In Orange.
The Cure also contributed to the soundtrack album for The X-Files: Fight the Future (additional info and facts about The X-Files: Fight the Future) as well as a cover of Depeche Mode (additional info and facts about Depeche Mode) 's "World In My Eyes" for the For the Masses tribute album.

Punk Updates: New and upcoming album releases
Incorporating the raw reality of their lives, ranging from homelessness, addiction, and the vast tumult of needing to "be somebody", the band forged music that is emotional and inspirational, yet fun and melodic.
A chance meeting with Geoff Rickly, singer of Thursday and Tony award-winning producer, who offered to produce their album, lifted the sunken spirits of the band and opened the window of opportunity they needed to shout their rock and roll gospel to the world.
Adhering to their beliefs of ingenuity and loyalty, these initial friendships paved the way to the future allegiances that would be the glue to bind the stolid ideas and goals of the band and label, and thus create the record they envisioned.

Fat Joe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In late 2002, Joe released the album Loyalty and had a couple of minor hits with "Crush Tonite" (featuring Ginuwine) and "All I Need".
Fat Joe is also a member of Terror Squad, which released their first, self-titled, album on September 21, 1999.
Fat Joe's new solo album, All or Nothing, originally scheduled to be released in Spring 2005, has been pushed back several times (supposedly due to sample clearances, though also perhaps by Interscope executives interested in not having Joe's album compete with 50 Cent's release), but was released in July 2005.

Loyalty is another important factor, such a fleeting one and an important facet of integrity.
As long as you can be loyal to them, their reciprocal loyalty is going to keep your career growing, because they will recommend you to their friends and become some of your most tenacious promoters.
That is loyalty to your fans, and when you have bands canceling gigs at the last second because they got the sniffles, that is not loyalty.

E-40 : Loyalty and Betrayal - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
The album-opening intro and title track definitely start Loyalty and Betrayal off rather oddly, as it seems like 40 is more interested in showing off all his latest slang, delivery styles, and studio tricks than delivering a good old-fashioned rhyme that gets the party started properly.
As with practically every 40 album, Loyalty and Betrayal is spotty -- at times downright brilliant but at other times plodding.
That makes for a surprising, unique listen, but it also means Loyalty and Betrayal isn't a hallmark release like Tha Hall of Game was five years earlier, when 40 was first establishing the style he inches away from here.

Junior Boys: Last Exit: Pitchfork Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
These days I tend not to "root" for many musicians, to pledge loyalty to an artist I loved when we both were young, or circle album release dates or try to anticipate when a record will leak.
In fact, each of this record's 10 deceptively simple and very approachable tracks carry the distinct fingerprints of lead songwriter and singer Jeremy Greenspan, who manages to fold elements of nearly a quarter-century of forward-looking pop into a distinct sound without sounding either conceptual or trading on contradictions or the smoke-and-mirrors of attention-grabbing eclecticism.
Four of the album's tracks-- "Birthday", "Last Exit", "High Come Down", and "Under the Sun"-- were first released on last year's EPs and sit nicely alongside the new songs.

It’s time for another experienced Gospel vocalist to emerge from the crevasses of album credits to take his place in the spotlight of musical ministry.
On his Tommy Boy Gospel debut, Loyalty, the immensity of Pringle’s vocal presence nearly knocks you over, and more often than not, he does it with a feather.

With these two albums, he followed the same formula that worked so well for The Notorious BIG and Big Pun before him: drop an album full of hard edged street bangers sprinkled with a few catchy, radio friendly party joints to drop as singles.
The album is closed out by perhaps the best song, "Shit Is Real Part III." A personal look into the life of Joe Cartagena like parts I and II before it, he defends the legacy of Big Pun against those who attempted to detract from Pun's legacy after his death, including Pun's ex-wife:
All in all, this album is satisfying but not what it could have been.

This album seems like it was thrown together in a matter of a few months, and I cannot believe this is what D12 offers us four years after their debut.
But on this album, they surely have fallen victim to the infamous Canibus Syndrome (which is when an emcee who can really spit fire, can’t record an album worth a damn).

Adding Burrows' friend Martin Howells (who adopted the identity of one of the first album's imaginary musicians, Vladimir Zajkowiecz) on bass, the Chrysanthemums quickly recorded an EP, 1988's The **** Sessions, which was housed in a sleeve parodying the never-ending series of BBC Radio 1 disc jockey John Peel's live sessions.
Following this, the trio recorded 1988's Little Flecks of Foam Around Barking, a double album released in a sleeve covered front and back with mock hieroglyphics and including a hilarious, lengthy sleeve note by Jenkins explaining the purported "concept" of the album.
It would prove to be the last recording by the original lineup; during a 1991 five-week tour of Germany, Burrows and Jenkins had a falling out, and the group broke up upon their return to England.
