Cricket test - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The cricket test was a phrase coined by Norman Tebbit in referring to supposedly questionable loyalties of immigrants to the United Kingdom in 1990.
During the 1980s and 1990s there was a perception in parts of the UK that some immigrants to the UK did not have a primary loyalty to the UK, but continued to identify with their countries of origin.
The most famous expression of this was made by Conservative politician Norman Tebbit in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

Therefore, “loyalty tests” were used by ancient kings to ferret out people with bad attitudes toward the authority of the king.
However, if the suspect was hostile toward the king or plotting rebellion, a “loyalty test” became a life and death issue, even though the suspect may not have been caught doing anything wrong.

Multichannel Merchants Entering Customer Loyalty Field
Loyalty programs are not new to the retail industry (think CVS's ExtraCare, Petco's PALS, and the programs of virtually every grocery store chain).
Back in the day, if a retailer was giving away a clock-radio for a certain number of points, the consumer would have to contact a call center, which would submit the order to a distribution center for fulfillment.
Loyalty Lab says it can offer retailers an on-demand loyalty program that is up and running in 30 days, at a cost that is about 10% of traditional loyalty program costs.

E.J. Dionne argues that it's a good idea for Senators to ask John Roberts to "share his reflections" about "Catholic teaching on public issues" with "the public." Dionne argues that religion "is playing an important part in our public debates," making it an appropriate subject for Roberts' confirmation hearings.
The drill would be unseemly (making Catholics or atheists or feminists specially declare their "loyalty"), and it would shed no real light.
Further mischief would occur in the likely event that Senators, overcome by partisanship and under pressure from special interest groups, pass judgment on the extent to which the nominee's answers can be believed given the strength of the religious (or other) doctrine in question.
