As Loyola University responds to the challenges posed by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, there are many decisions to be made surrounding academic and tuition issues.
In an effort to assist the students from Loyola University New Orleans who were impacted by Hurricane Katrina, many of the 27 sister Jesuit institutions and other institutions in the United States have agreed to welcome Loyola students as visiting, non-matriculating students for the fall semester.
It was their intent for Loyola University to retain all tuition and fees from their students regardless of where the students attended college in fall 2005.

The Rev. Bernard Knoth, a Jesuit priest, submitted his resignation Tuesday under new Roman Catholic Church rules that say if a sexual allegation involving a minor is deemed credible, the accused should be removed immediately.
Loyola, which traces its history back to the 18th century, has about 5,500 students and is one of 28 Jesuit colleges in the United States.

Loyola, the latest of several New Orleans educational institutions to go to court over hurricane damages, filed the suit in U.S. District Court in New Orleans on Wednesday against Continental Casualty Co., a unit of Chicago-based CNA Financial Corp.
The university remained closed for the entire fall 2005 semester, and since reopening in January 2006 has seen a decline in enrollment as some students decided not to return and as housing for students, faculty and staff remained scarce, Loyola says.
