General Bazilio Olara Okello (1929 Uganda – January 9, 1990, Khartoum, Sudan) was a Ugandan soldier, and one of the leaders of the military coalition that overthrew Idi Amin in 1979.
In 1985, together with Tito Okello, he staged the coup that ousted president Milton Obote.
He served as head of state for two days and was replaced by Tito Okello.

It has been estimated that 100,000 to 300,000 people died as a result of fighting between Obote's UNLA and the Guerillas.
Obote was deposed again, on 27 July 1985, by his own army commanders Brigadier Bazilio Okello and General Tito Okello in a military coup.
Okello and Okello briefly ruled the country through a Military Council, but after a few months of near anarchy, Museveni's National Resistance Army (NRA) took control of Uganda.

Bazilio Olara Okello, took Kampala and proclaimed a military government.
Negotiations between the Okello government and the NRA were conducted in Nairobi in the fall of 1985, with Kenyan President Daniel arap Moi seeking a cease-fire and a coalition government in Uganda.
Although agreeing in late 1985 to a cease-fire, the NRA continued fighting, and seized Kampala and the country in late January 1986, forcing Okello's forces to flee north into Sudan.
