While not as impressive but even more emotional, a line up of 3 or 4 old monks will witness that their temple is still alive, though it will certainly be closed in a few years.
What fascinated me is that one could see almost the whole people of Luang Prabang outside their houses, novices and monks walking, believers sitted or kneeled on the side of the streets, all this in a TOTAL SILENCE : you would barely hear the rubbing of their feet against the road.
We already can enjoy quite a set of Luang Prabang food donation photos in TE (I specially like Manny's -see inside my favs box-) as I knew I hardly could do better or renew the genre, I took a chance on getting the monk's view of the ceremony.

When the monks lineup is in sight at the end of the street, there's each day a very slight whisper and a little tension running up through the women team, everybody checks that everyone stands straight.
This is amazing, we're in Luang Prabang, shortly after dawn, the silence around is made of gold, old ladies are morning the alms, the monks come into scene as if they were on a stairway from heaven, Luko lyes in the gutter without moving a single finger...
Well I missed this shot when I was in Luang Prabang, but this is what travel is all about, seeing the things that we never see in our western world of wealth and comfort.

Before the roosters started crowing, we hiked to Wat Phu Si (a temple atop a 300 ft hill in the middle of the city) to see the sun rise over Luang Prabang.
Somehow the sun beat us to the top, but with the smoke and dust in the air it was a dramatic red disc over the beautiful village of Luang Prabang.
At the top, we took a spin on an old Russian anti-aircraft gun - it was very nostaligic for Benny.
