Lubomirski (plural: Lubomirscy) is the surname of a Polish szlachta (nobility) family.
The next person of the family, Stanisław Lubomirski (1583-1649), was the voivode of Ruthenian Voivodship, the voivode and the starost of Krakow, the Krajczy of the Crown, and later the Cup-Bearer of the Crown, received the hereditary title of Prince and Count of Wiśnicz and Jarosław for him and his sons from Emperor Ferdinand II.
The Lubomirski family used the "Szreniawa without a cross" arms and their motto was: "Nil conscire sibi" (To have a conscience free from guilt) or "Patriam versus" (?)

WASHINGTON - The U.S. government is reconsidering a decision it made 50 years ago to give a collection of Albrecht Dürer drawings looted by the Nazis from the Stefanyk Library in Lviv to a descendant of the collection's former owner rather than return it to the library.
The two dozen 16th century drawings by Dürer were part of a collection of art donated by Prince Heinrich Lubomirski in the 1820s to the Ossolinski Institute in Lviv, then a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The collection was soon claimed by George Lubomirski, a descendant of Prince Heinrich, and turned over to him, despite the policy of returning looted art to its countries of origin.

A new book produced by the Ossolinski National Institute in Wroclaw, Poland, makes the case that the pieces - looted by the Nazis in 1941 but later returned to a descendant of their former owner - should be returned to Poland.
The drawings were once held by the Museum of Lubomirski Princes, part of the Ossolinski National Institute.
Lubomirski was the grandson of Prince Henryk Lubomirski, who founded the Museum of Lubomirski Princes in 1823.

In an article to be published in due course we will report that British Museum documents reveal that in a letter of 25 February 1999, the Keeper of the Prints and Drawings Department writes that "we have done no work ourselves in trying to establish the rights and wrongs of the situation".
