Like Shirley Manson's band, Lucia mixes the slick with the grit on From the Land of Volcanos.
KMFDM fans might be shocked that the album is powerful angst-pop with monolithic, Bat Out of Hell-styled drama, but Lucia sounds confident and driven throughout, like this is the album she always wanted to do.

Lucia has more of an edge to her voice with beats that are slightly more melodic sounding than those previously mentioned.
To be fair, Lucia has the advantage of sounding as good as Shirley Manson or Toni Halliday (who knew, right?), and she keeps the CD sounding fresh and not embarrassingly bad (J-Lo or late Cher album this is not).
This solo album by Lucia is a great piece of work, though at this point I am still fonder of the work with "Drill" than the role she has played with KMFDM, and this is closer to that.

Splendid Magazine reviews Lucia: From the Land of Volcanos
Lucia Cifarelli once fronted "heavy" alt-rockers Drill, and she's currently best known as the latest (and honestly, not the greatest) in KMFDM's string of female/backing vocalists.
Perhaps predictably, Lucia comes off best on the handful of tracks she wrote and produced with KMFDM's Sascha Konietzko -- particularly the trip-hoppy "Little Rose" and "Who Asked You", whose darker, edgier arrangements capitalize on her femme fatale persona.
In other words, she's already working with the right people, and she already has the right gig.

In the hard but catchy "Be Like Me" Skold at first has the grit and anger to defiantly pronounce "I'd rather die than meet your demands" and then can melodically explain "I need to shed some skin, to be like me again," in a rather hooky chorus.

Her melodic yet edgy vocal in "Get Out of My Head" is enough to take a song that almost falls into a "industrial pop-rock" category and turn it into something much more powerful and dramatic.
