	CNS STORY: Romanians' faith survived persecution, archbishop tells synod
		Romanian-rite Archbishop Lucian Muresan of Fagaras-Alba Iulia underlined the great hopes of the Catholic community despite past hardships and present challenges.
		According to information released by the Vatican, his Oct. 6 talk, four days into the synod sessions, was the first to draw applause from the bishops who were gathered at the Vatican for three weeks to discuss the role of the Eucharist in the life of the church.
		He said "there is no lack of hope" among the people, who still possess a "deep religious sense" and a "deep devotion" to the liturgy and the Eucharist.

		Early on 15 March 2002 a group of about 40 Orthodox forced their way into a church that had been returned to Greek-Catholics, Metropolitan Lucian Muresan, archbishop of Blaj, reported in statements sent to ZENIT.
		At the end of eight years of legal procedures, the Greek-Catholic Church had obtained a sentence Court of Justice of Alba-lulia stating its right of property of the church.
		On 8 March 2002, following the latter sentence, a group of Orthodox believers carrying iron bars and led by two Orthodox priests, Father Marcu Cornel and Father Ioan Tocanel (Aiud_s parish priest), tried to force their way into the church, where Greek-Catholic priests and faithful were praying.

	Aid to the Church in Need: Romania: Help for the training of seminarians of the Eastern-rite
		Although the seminarians can now study without hindrance, the Church still lacks the resources to fund the training of its priests.
		Because the training of priests has always been one of the highest priorities of the international Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) a grant of $43,000 has been promised to Archbishop Lucian Muresan of Alba Julia and Fagaras, (also the metropolitan of the Byzantine Catholic Church in Romania), for this project.
