Lucinda Williams (born January 26, 1953) is an American rock, folk, and country music singer and songwriter.
Williams was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the daughter of poet and literature professor Miller Williams.
Williams also gained a reputation as a perfectionist and slow worker when it came to recording; six years would pass before her next album release, though she appeared as a guest on other artists' albums and contributed to several tribute compilations during this period.

Her father, Miller Williams, is a professor of literature and a professional poet, but it was her mother, a music graduate, who influenced Lucinda the most.
She played folk clubs in Texas in the mid-70s and made her first albums for Folkways Records.
She has also performed on the tribute albums to Merle Haggard (Tulare Dust) and Victoria Williams (Sweet Relief).
