Topic: Lucky You (film)

Photographic film - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Photographic film is a sheet of plastic (polyester, celluloid (nitrocellulose) or cellulose acetate) coated with an emulsion containing light-sensitive silver halide salts (bonded by gelatin) with variable crystal sizes that determine the sensitivity and resolution of the film.
Black and white reversal film exists, but is uncommon — one of the reasons reversal films are popular among professional photographers is the fact that they are generally superior to print films with regards to color reproduction.
Some films, like Kodak's Technical Pan, are not ISO rated and therefore careful examination of the film's properties must be made by the photographer before exposure and development.

Film review: Lucky - No Time...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
Lucky (Sneha Ullal) is the quintessential shy schoolgirl, and love is the last thing on her mind.
The rest of the film is all about how Lucky and Adi discover feelings for one another, how PD finds them and how they maneuvre their way through terror-struck Russia.
The film could have been salvaged with some fine editing, but that’s what happens when the directors are also the writers of the film.

Ash Lite's better than the real thing!
Ash Lite is the one facing all the pressure, though, and she does quite all right, considering she's a teenager working in her first film, and has been handicapped by severely trite and saccharine dialogues.
The second half of the film is, for the most part, a letdown, as our tragically trapped couple plod through all the predictable Hindi film pitfalls, with the script suddenly dragging, scarred by great dollops of melodrama.
Speaking of firsts, this also might be the only Mithun Chakraborty film in perhaps the last decade to actually merit the tag 'watchable.' The veteran star has suddenly been appearing a lot on the mainstream landscape (far removed from his B-film badshahdom), but he's enjoyable here, playing an eccentric 'great' detective and master of disguises.

Set against the romantic and majestic backdrop of St. Petersberg, Lucky is a tale of love that's brings together two people who would probably have never met if not for the hand of destiny.
Her one big belief is that if you search from the bottom of your heart then you can find the rainbow, not just the rainbow but also the crock of gold at the end of the rainbow.
One calm “Petersbergian” morning Lucky's riding to school and calling on all her guardian angels to grant her a miracle - a teeny weeny, it's bitsy one - “please God I wish from the bottom of my heart that school is shut today”.

This film is a loaded collection of conflicts and characters aimed at enlightening those who are discriminatory AND so secure with themselves that they could conceivably stop judging others based on their disabilities or physicial appearance.
Then again, it would be hard to fault the actors for not creating anything behind their characters, when such a road map probably didn't exist in the first place.
Films can do do more than spout inspirational platitudes; they can also involve, entertain and even shock and affect.

Passion, as manifested in Renwick's films, comes out in all sorts of funny, obsessive ways, and at their best they are transfixing; eminently social but deeply personal, observant and compassionate without a trace of sentimentality.
It's an interesting thing, a film about an artist, because your encounter with the art is completely dictated by the filmmaker.
Another wise decision on the part of the filmmakers was to leave this information until toward the end of the film, when Richart starts to talk about having been in a mental hospital--all the while manipulating a rotating sculpture of a sleeping figure--and about how art set him free.

The Films of John Singleton: Poetic Justice (1993)
The film's first twenty minutes excellently set up the plight of Justice (Jackson), a hairdresser who turns to writing poetry to heal the pain left by the murder of her boyfriend.
But all emotional weight disappears and the film becomes lighter than a feather when she goes on a journey from L.A. to Oakland with her best friend Iesha (Regina King); Iesha's mailman boyfriend, Chicago (Joe Torry); and his best friend, also a mailman, Lucky (Tupac Shakur), aboard their mail truck.
More attention seems to be paid to the relationship betwen Chicago and Iesha than the dramatic relationship between Justice and Lucky; a pivotal scene where Chicago hits Iesha is given more emotional weight than one where Justice must confront her conflicting feelings of love for Lucky and those of devotion to her dead boyfriend.

Timothy Spall is also excellent in a role which provides much of the pathos in the film, the closing song, Sunny, being a perfect example of how well he manages to create a character who is both put-open and yet not entirely without hope.
A problem of the film is that, although amusing enough, there are no real standout sequences.
Overall, this is characteristic of this film: a good, solid British comedy, but not one which pushes the boundaries in any way.

Lucky Lady Film Review - Time Out Film
The only vaguely remarkable thing about Lucky Lady is that it presents an overtly troilist relationship to its family audience with so little fuss: Hackman, Reynolds and Minnelli share a bed in '30s America, and make their living by running booze across the Mexican border.
Unfortunately, the film's originality stops there, which is surprising since it was scripted by the talented Huyck/Katz partnership (American Graffiti, The Second Coming).
The story is virtually non-existent, the period detail coyly derivative, and much of the comedy would be shamed even by the most meagre Anna Neagle vehicle of the '40s.
