Lucyna Ćwierczakiewiczowa (commonly known as Lucyna Ćwierciakiewiczowa) (1829 - February 26, 1901) was a Polish writer, journalist and author of the first Polish cookery book.
Lucyna Ćwierczakiewiczowa was born in Warsaw, in the notable aristocratic family of von Bachman.
In 1858 she published her first book Jedyne praktyczne przepisy wszelkich zapasów spiżarnianych oraz pieczenia ciast (The only practical compendium of recipes for all household stocks and pastry).

 Lucyna Ćwierczakiewiczowa
Lucyna Ćwierczakiewiczowa (pronounced [luˌʦɨna ʨfʲerʧakʲeviˌʧova], commonly known as Lucyna Ćwierciakiewiczowa) (1829—February 26, 1901) was a Polish writer, journalist and author of the first Polish cookery book.
She died in Warsaw and is buried in the Calvinist Cemetery.

 Our Polish Story
Perhaps the most influential was the culinary tradition of multi-national empire of Austria-Hungary, which led to development of a Central European cuisine in Galicia.
The 19th Century also saw the creation of the first Polish cookbook, by Lucyna Cwierczakiewiczowa, who based her work on the 18th Century diaries of the szlachta.
After the end of World War II, Poland fell under Communist occupation.

The oldest traditional and still popular recipes can be traced back to 19th century.
They can be found in cookery books written by authors such as Lucyna Cwierczakiewiczowa, who in turn found them in old calendars of the landowning gentry of the 18th century.
These recipes reflected various culinary traditions of impoverished gentry living in the declining years of the Republic of Poland.
