VILLA MANIN - centre for contemporary art
The Villa Manin Estate, located in the village of Passariano — Codroipo (Udine), North-Eastern Italy, is one of the most significant artistic monuments in the history of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, a symbol of the region’s culture and tourism.
It is said that it was Ludovico Manin himself, who supervised the construction of the 17th century building, influenced by Baldassarre Longhena, a faithful and effective promoter of the Palladian style.
Hence, the baroque splendour of the small lakes, and numerous fountains and statues which populated the garden in the 18th century, were unified by the creation of idyllic, tucked-away spaces, typical to the 19th century Romantic movement, which modified the relationship between man and nature.

Baroque Villa to show new art.(Front Page)(Centro d'Arte Contemporanea at the Villa Manin) - HighBeam Encyclopedia
The Villa Manin hardly lies at the crossroads of the art world: the Baroque estate (and residence of the last doge of Venice, Ludovico Manin, who presided over the Venetian Republic's surrender to Napoleon in 1797) is located in Passariano, a village in the province of Udine, northeast of the Veneto.
The Villa Manin is, however, in the heart of the "new" Europe.
As this issue goes to press, the Villa Manin is scheduled to open to the public on May 30 with a multimedia evening event in the garden called "Every/Body" and three exhibitions that will remain on view through Nov. 7.
