		Lufthansa Cargo will impose a security surcharge of 10 cents per kilo on airborne exports from the U.S., effective Oct. 8.
		The move follows the cancellation of its war-risk insurance coverage by insurance companies in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on the U.S. The carrier said it has incurred high additional costs, and further increases in insurance premiums are to be expected.
		Lufthansa said the additional costs made it impossible to operate profitably, necessitating the surcharge.
