  Lugger
The lugger sails had a trapeziform and were joined to laths.
A lath was hanged with the help of a sling fastened to it in the 1/3 of its length counting from the lower yardarm, not from the middle as it were occurred on other ships.
The sheet of that sail was laid to the boom protruded the stern.

Lugger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A lugger is a type of small sailing vessel setting lugsails on two or more masts and perhaps lug topsails.
Like a square sail, a lugsail is set on a yard but is a fore and aft sail, the halyard being attached about a third to a quarter of the length from one end of the yard.
The boat off-shore is a little more obviously a lugger and the others have not got their sails fully set.

IU Research and Creative Activity Magazine
Cohn and Lugger have been studying the same globular clusters for a number of years, since marrying his penchant for theoretical calculations of star cluster evolution with her observational work with telescopes.
Lugger believes astronomers should take the most conservative--hence simplest--theory that fits the observed data, rather than relying on more exotic explanations such as a massive fl hole.
In their specific research, Lugger and Cohn are studying not only the behavior of stars within a globular cluster, but also which stars seem to be the sources of powerful X-rays being emitted by the cluster.

I was hauled in a yard in Bon Secour, AL the other day, and the yard guys were "surprised" to hear it was a Biloxi Lugger.
The lugger is also a pretty nice form for ex-sailors and iconoclasts - seemingly not so offensive in anchorages - you get lots of visits from sailors wondering just who and what you are.

 Beer Lugger
The Beer Lugger is not just any old lugger with the word Beer stuck in front of it, but is a design and rig type specific to Beer.
There are other advantages to the rig: all the spars are short enough to fit in the boat when unshipped, the short mast does not require a sophisticated system of stays or spreaders to support it and with such a rig it is possible to set a large powerful sail despite the low mast.
The Beer Lugger is, I believe, a direct descendant of the Viking rig taken to Normandy by the Norsemen and then later introduced to Southern Britain by the Normans in 1066.

 Laerken - Lugger
Laerken is particularly unusual for a Danish warship not only because was she a lugger, but also because her plans which survive in Denmark's national archives are "as built" plans rather than "as designed" plans - the latter of which are most typical for Danish naval vessels.
A lugger was a characteristic French-type of vessel, the French equivalent of the British cutter, built for speed.
Although the lugger rig might appear to be a bit unusual to the English or American eye, the Laerken was an attractive vessel.

We particularly liked the adjustability of the straps at the top of the shoulders, which kept a variety of shapes and sizes centered on the rider's hips.

The Aristocrat Lugger   (Site not responding. Last check: )
During the short summer night of Tuesday 15 July 1795 a lugger crept in close to the French coast near St. Malo and at 5 o'clock in the morning her boat brought nine men off the beach.
The lugger, the ARISTOCRAT, was chartered by the Admiralty and was commanded by Capt. Wilkins who, although he was not in the Royal Navy, had been employed for some time as master of his own vessel in running supplies to insurgents in the department of La Vendee on the Biscay coast.
It is difficult to tell whether they were relieved by Capt. Wilkins' assurance that "they might rest extremely easy that they should not be made prisoners." If there was any danger of the lugger being boarded, he intended to fire the powder-room which contained 125 barrels of gunpowder due to be landed in France.
