The attack failed, a chieftain called Lugotorix was captured, and Cassivellaunus was forced to seek terms.
In the century between Caesar's expeditions and the conquest under Claudius, kings in Britain began to issue coins stamped with their names.

It seems that Caradoc twisted the woman's compassion and humanity and used it to weaken and control her.
Caradoc then flew into a rage when Lugotorix and Cassivellaunus were mentioned and summoned plague fiends to attack the group.
Once the fiends were defeated, the group left the Underworld and returned to Athens.

The tactics succeeded in slowing the Romans advance through the country but after being betrayed by the neighbouring Trinovantes (ironically conquered by the Catuvellauni previously) Cassivellaunus fell back to his fortress at Wheathampstead, Herts.
A follow-on from the previous battle in Brentford, Caesar attacked from two sides succeeding in destroying the fierce resistance and taking many prisoners including Lugotorix, a Briton of noble birth.
A peace agreement was ratified where Cassivellaunus had to provide hostages to the Romans (who were sent to Rome), pay an annual tribute and agree not to attack the Trinovantes.He later moved his capital to nearby Verulamium, now St Albans.

I cannot stay to relate all that happened on land hereabouts in this sanguinary fight nearly 2,000 years ago, but we have witnessed the stirring events occasioned by a threat of invasion on the same shore during the past few years.

Cassivellaunus organized the British resistance against Caesar's second expeditionary force.
The large fortress at Wheathampstead, north of St. Albans, was possibly the site of the decisive battle during which one Lugotorix, a Briton of noble birth, was captured by Caesar, and after which, Cassivellaunus sued for peace.
Later the seat of government of Togodumnus, the son of Cunobelinus who himself ruled from Camelodunum.
