Luigi Bianchi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Luigi Bianchi born on the January 18, 1856 in Parma, Italy, and died on June 6, 1928 in Pisa, Italy.
Bianchi was also greatly influenced by the geometrical ideas of Bernhard Riemann and by the work on transformation groups of Sophus Lie and Felix Klein.
Bianchi's list of nine isometry classes, which can be regarded as Lie algebras, Lie groups, or as three dimensional homogeneous (possibly nonisotropic) Riemannian manifolds, are now often called collectively the Bianchi groups.

ArkivMusic | Gran Viola - Paganini, Bloch, Et Al / Bianchi, Canino, Et Al
Violist Luigi Alberto Bianchi specializes in performances on historical instruments--that is, instruments that have historical value, not period instruments.
Because of the unusual size and length of the fingerboard, this unique instrument was especially difficult to play, but also extremely rewarding in terms of tonal beauty and depth of sonority.
Paganini's Sonata per la Gran Viola is a perfect vehicle for Bianchi's virtuosity and cantabile playing, while the 10 pieces borrowed from the violin literature and transcribed for viola further show the extensive range of his sensitive musicianship.

Father Bianchi’s report of his conversation with Sister Lucy fueled existing speculation that Osama bin Laden or other unnamed Moslem "extremists" were plotting to assassinate His Holiness Pope John Paul II.
This was based on Father Bianchi’s assertion that "When Cardinals Ratzinger and Sodano revealed the Third Secret of Fatima, they did it in a very watered down fashion" in order to "avoid creating a panic".
Father Bianchi’s statement was contradicted in the January 9, 2002 issue of L’Osservatore Romano, where it was reported that Sister Lucy did not agree that the Vatican had not revealed the entire Third Secret.

The importance of differential geometry may be seen from the fact that Einstein’s general theory of relativity is formulated entirely in terms of the differential geometry, in tensor notation, of a four-dimensional manifold combining space and time.
