  Albarran Biography
Luis was such a talented artist, he not only sculpted in plastiline, but also casted his own pieces in metal, using the 'lost wax' method, and then applied custom-made patinas.
Luis' sculptures are very realistic and detailed, most of his works are in bronze, however, he also produced sculptures in silver and gold.
Luis' sculptures were displayed in many exhibits such as the Yearly Exhibit for the Sculptors Circle, a Retrospective Exhibit at the Excelsior Gallery, Collective Exibit for Luis Albarrán, Fermín Revueltas, and Roberto de la Selva at the Mexican Art Hall (Sala de Arte Mexicano), and the Exhibition of Goldsmith Works in Mexico.

Luis Mariano González, of Spain’s Ministry of Environment, has been the leading force behind these moves, which seek to implement scientific study and conservation within an agreed international framework.
While this approach may originally have been intended to avert the internecine squabbling that has long plagued conservation efforts in the region, ironically, efforts to streamline or limit the decision-making process appear to be raising the same spectres yet again.
Some critics of rehabilitation also believe that the reintroduction of individuals that are genetically weak or predisposed to certain diseases (individuals that might otherwise have died) might have longer-term repercussions for the entire colony.

Zarzuela! Writer Biographies - Luis Mariano de Larra
Luis Mariano de Larra y Wetoret was the son of the great romantic poet and satirist Mariano José de Larra, who committed suicide in 1837 after the collapse of his domestic life - he had left his wife to elope with a married lady, who promptly rejected him.
Ultimately a successful novelist, poet and playwright, Luis Mariano began his career as a journalist, and in far from auspicious circumstances.
This was the age of a great Spanish literary as well as musical flowering, and perhaps Luis Mariano also suffered by comparison with the likes of Zorrilla, Rivas, Camproamor and Pereda.

 Andalousie / 1951 / film review / Robert Vernay / Luis Mariano
Andalousie is a film version of one of a number of popular operettas starring the Spanish popular music idol of the late 1940s, Luis Mariano.
Although the film now looks somewhat dated and unsophisticated, it was hugely successful in its day, and its blend of comedy, romantic drama and music is not unappealing.
However, it is the music and dance routines which provide the greatest satisfaction, and it is easy to see why Luis Mariano was one of the most adored singers of his generation.

It forms Roberto Alagna's tribute to one of his heroes, the tenor Luis Mariano, star of films, musicals and operettas, and a hugely popular singer of standards in 1950s France.
In the sleeve notes, Alagna remembers being first fascinated by Mariano's voice when he saw one of his films on TV, aged 10.
The disc is saved from sentimentality by the enthusiasm and sincerity Alagna brings to it, though his voice occasionally sounds raw at the top, and there are engaging performances of such familiar numbers as Mexico and I Love Paris in the Springtime.
