Tetrazzini then sang at the Argentina in Rome before she began an extensive series of appearances in the Italian provinces, Eastern Europe, South America, Spain and Mexico in the years between 1891 and 1906.
Luisa Tetrazzini was truly an opera "star" of international proportions, with an almost unflawed coloratura.
But here Tetrazzini is in a class of her own in the sheer magic she displays in that beloved note’s delivery – she seems, almost literally, to "pull them out of her hat" at will, just like a magician.

Nimbus Records, Prima Voce, NI 7808, Luisa Tetrazzinni - Booklet Note
Tetrazzini was a glorious coloratura soprano with a flawless vocal technique, yet the thrill is not just the unique bell-like quality of the voice above the stave, but the strong, dramatic sound of her lower chest register.
Despite the difficulty experienced by her sister in the singing profession, Luisa was undaunted, claiming that there was never a time in her life when she did not sing.
Tetrazzini had earned a fortune over the years but sadly she was duped by a young man whom she married in 1926 (her third marriage) and in a very short time her vast wealth had almost completely disappeared.

Tetrazzini was born in Florence on 29 June 1871, and unlike so many of the great Italian stars she came from a background of financial security, her father being a prosperous military tailor.
The repertoire of the coloratura soprano is the most technically demanding in the whole of opera, and it is an indication of Tetrazzini's astonishing natural talent that after so sketchy a training she managed to tackle the most daunting of roles and regularly drove her audiences frantic with enthusiasm.
Tetrazzini was quite a vocal actress too; the colouring of the voice invariably makes it evident whether the heroine in question is going through a period of sunshine or showers.
