The negative things about this trek are that it is a long trek to get to the base camp and the acclimatisation problems because of the areas high altitude.
The trek can either begin at Lukla (2800m) at the beginning of the Khumbu region, which you have to fly to ($95 from Kathmandu) or at Jiri, to which is a 12 hours bus ride from Kathmandu.
Lukla is known for cancelled flights and overbooking, so many people get stuck longer than they planned.

On Wednesday at 5 a.m., a bus will depart from Kathmandu which is to bring the expedition and the cargo (the weight of which has, after adding provisions and additional equipment, risen to almost three tons) to the town of Jiri.
The journey will then continue with a helicopter ride to Lukla (the Lukla airport is still not ready for plane traffic).
Due to the rainy weather the helicopter ride to Lukla was put off to tomorrow.

I’m in Lukla, waiting for my flight to Kathmandu which is at 7.20am tomorrow morning.
Namche is on top of a hill and you quickly drop down two thousand feet as you head toward Lukla.

If the Lukla airstirp is covered in clouds, or if the KTD valley is foggy (a very likely occurrence these days), planes will not leave on time.
The lodges by the way are much better now compared to 9 years ago, some even have nice sun-rooms for you to sit down and enjoy your cup of tea or hot lemonade when you stop for a break during the day...

We had to decide whether to stay here, or continue on to Lukla and try to get an early flight back to Kathmandu.
The walk from Phakding to Lukla was mostly uphill.
A couple of Germans who had just arrived in Lukla told me I was the first person they saw carrying a full pack, like they were.

We got up very early in the morning to go to the airport as we had booked a flight for 06:45 to go from KTM to Lukla.
We were forced to wait in front of the plane for more than an hour and at the moment that the clouds disappeared and we were allowed to take off the pilot recognized that the planed wasn't refuelled yet!
Finally after cigarette smoking guys fuelled the plane we took off and it took us 40 until we saw the airstrip of Lukla on which we were supposed to land.
