In `Lullaby', the reality disruptor is sound; and Palahniuk doesn't just set up a cardboard stereotypical rapper polluting the neighbourhood with his `Yo!s' and turn the plot into a revenge fantasy by killing the offending fl misogynist off slowly and painfully thus providing secret satisfaction to closet racists everywhere.

If Thousands: Lullaby - PopMatters Music Review
Lullaby was recorded in Duluth in May, so the cold presumably wasn't a factor, yet the album still has that aura of a band holing themselves inside for a while and diving headlong into their music in an attempt to capture a certain mood.
Though Lullaby is divided into nine tracks, they all run together as one piece and feel like one extended lullaby, the lovely yet ambiguous soundtrack to the varied dream-lives of its listeners.
Lullaby might be the last album you listen to or it might lead to great dreams.

Though his observations and predictions for the world are invariably bleak, there are also warped notions of love, romance and hope for the future that run concurrently, giving Lullaby a unique and refreshing twist.
Granted, occasinally, he does seem to be labouring the point with regards to the idea that words and noise have become a "disease of the mind" but Lullaby is well worth persevering with, due to the fact that the story is so incredibly tight.
It is also worth noting that Lullaby is also one of Palahniuk's most far-fetched novels, as he delves into the worlds of witch-craft and occupation spells, but, with a healthy suspension of disbelief, the reader should reach the final page of this strangely beautiful novel utterly convinced of Palahniuk's fortitude as a writer.
