LUNA, La Union -- Overfishing by the growing number of fishermen in La Union and other provinces along the Lingayen Gulf is pushing small fishermen farther and farther into the open sea to earn a living or simply feed their families on a daily basis.
The village of Darigayos in Luna town is one of the villages with the highest number of fishermen who encountered the freak weather phenomenon over the South China Sea on Jan. 23.
He bought his unit only days ago for 10,000 pesos in La Union's provincial capital San Fernando City, he said.
