  Brazilian Dances: Lundu
The lundu or lundum was brought to Brazil by Bantu slaves from Angola and surrounding areas.
Still danced in the island of Marajó in the Amazon delta, the lundu(m) is a very sensual, voluptuous - rather lascivious really - couple's dance.
It was later replaced by the maxixe (which was also considered scandalous...) and the samba.

One of the most important early Brazilian genres was the lundu song form and circle dance, brought by Bantu slaves from what is now Angola to Brazil, where it began to acquire new influences and shock the Europeans.
By the end of that century, lundu had made an appearance in the Portuguese court, transformed into a refined style sung with guitar or piano accompaniment and embellished with European harmonies.
By the mid-nineteenth century in Brazil, lundu was performed both in salons and in the streets.

Lundu then took the floor and reflected on the origins of the information gap between developed and developing countries, postulating that the information gap is both a myth and a reality, depending upon one's standpoint.
Lundu approached the problem from three different angles: (1) the "two worlds" interdependence, especially in technology and knowledge production, utilization, and transfer; (2) the role of education and training in supporting interdependence; and (3) the need for the third world to identify its own needs and priorities.
What is needed are education and training that impart "dynamic technology" the kind of knowledge that makes the possessor understand the scientific principles governing his work and as such enables the possessor to improve, modify, or change it to suit changing circumstances.
