The name of this language has its origin in sâhils-awâhil, arab term that designated the East African coast and the islands, the region where this language was born.
It seems clear that the language was spoken at the coast during the 13th century.
The result of this attempt was the Kiswahili, or standard Swahili, taken from the Kiunguja dialect which was native to the town of Zanzibar (Unguja), which was the nucleus of the Swahili culture and cradle of the dialect considered the purest.

If language was consistently and widely uplifted as an important facet of one’s identity, fluid in relation to one’s ethnicity and influenced by personal agency, then there would hopefully be a paradigm shift toward a focus on heritage language education and, by extension, second language education.
Hopefully, with the help of official sanction of heritage languages on multiple levels combined with continued community involvement in heritage language schools, the doors that our father was concerned about opening would open early and remain propped open for the rest of his daughter’s life.

Worldview in Language: Identity and Relationship
I have seen some adult language learners who do not want to learn a language unless they actually "need it to do their work." Further they think they should be taught materials in their language study which they will be using in their job.
For instance, some may suggest studying, as a language text, the first book of some course they will be required to teach in their work responsibilities.
Thus the language is a channel by which a foreigner can learn how the world is organized in the new host culture.
