The re-entry of the Luscombe aircraft is due largely to federal legislation that passed the tort reform laws in 1995, lifting the burden of liability lawsuits that had skyrocketed liability insurance and ceased the manufacturing of small propeller planes in the mid-1980s.
The Luscombe aircraft was originally developed in the 1930s by founder Don Luscombe, with aircraft built between 1935 and 1961, and nearly 3,000 still flying today.
