		During the last round of negotiations in 2003 LUSU was promised that a new, progressive, University-wide harassment policy would be in place by September 2003.
		LUSU has sent university President, Judith Woodsworth, lengthy correspondence outlining the concerns, in the hope that they will be addressed.
		If a settlement cannot be reached, and a no-board report is filed, LUSU will likely be in a legal strike position about mid-August, just as students are set to begin returning for the school year.

		Roberts Rules and the LUSU Constitution, two documents apparently meant to stimulate dialogue in an open atmosphere ensuring that all are heard, were used against the Gender Issues Centre to silence the concerns of students.
		Josh Poch, the LUSU chairperson, resigned his position at the end of the meeting in protest of the unsatisfactory and insulting means through which executive and board members chose to proceed.

		An important milestone was reached in the late 1980s when LUSU undertook the responsibility to construct and manage a new student pub, The Outpost, which is the second largest campus student pub in Canada.
		This project required that LUSU be treated by Lakehead administration as a responsible, legal entity, capable of taking on a mortgage, arranging for architectural and engineering services, and managing a licensed entertainment facility that would host some of Canada’s best bands.
		Today, LUSU is an effective and respected voice of students on many fronts, with representatives who serve on the Board of Governors and the Senate and their committees, and on a host of University task forces, search committees, and strategic planning groups.

	Student Union Takes Aim at Sustainable Future : Thunderbay IMC
		Throughout the rest of this term, and into the future, LUSU will be putting on events, seminars, discussion groups, movies, and more, as a way of showing that students are interested in the health of our world, and we want to do something about it.
		Early next month, LUSU, in conjunction with the Energy Action Team (http://www.energyaction.net), will be screening Oil on Ice, a film that connects the survival of northern communities and the fragile lands they depend on, with the energy policy decisions made by high-profile politicians.

		I seriously doubt thats true, maybe it is with the those that are into campus politics but most people just want to be able to sit their exams and graduate, I don't know a single person who'd support this strike if it interferes with their degree.
