Topic: Lutz Heck

  Zwoje (The Scrolls) 2 (30), 2002
One purpose of Lutz Heck’s mission in Poland was to dispatch the finest remaining animals to zoos in Germany.
Heck’s experiment in animal re-creation was under the patronage of Goering – an enthusiastic hunter of animals rather than their protector as evidenced from the prewar photographs at Białowieża – and lavishly funded.
Heck's importance to Hitler may be gauged by the fact that, as the war was nearing its end, he was spirited out of Russian territory and flown back to Germany.

  Heck cattle Information
Heck cattle were developed in the early 20th century by the Heck brothers in Germany in an attempt to breed back modern cattle to their presumed ancestral form, the Aurochs (Bos primigenius primigenius).
A typical Heck bull should be at least 1.6 m (5.25 ft) high and a cow 1.4 m (4.60 ft), with weight 600 to 900 kg(1,300 to 2,000 lb).
The Heck bulls were not much larger than the bull of most breeds of domestic cattle, while wild aurochs bulls are believed to have often exceeded 1000 kilograms (2,200 lb), half the size of a rhinoceros.

Entry Level: GM Product Guru Hints at New Cadillac   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
Lutz cites the success of the BMW 1 Series as the prime reason behind Cadillac's plan to venture downmarket into Europe's hotly contested premium-small-car market.
Lutz was careful to play down suggestions that the new compact Cadillac is already in the new-model pipeline, saying, "Nothing has been signed off," although he suggested he is "working hard" to ensure it happens.
While Lutz stops short of confirming as much, it seems credible that it will form the basis of the next-generation BLX, with the new small Cadillac borrowing the same structure — a move that would mirror the approach taken by BMW with the 1 and 3 Series.

 Aurochs
In the 1920s two German zookeepers -- brothers by the names of Heinz and Lutz Heck -- attempted to breed the aurochs back into existence from the domestic cattle that were their descendants.
The result is the "Recreated Aurochs" or "Heck Aurochs", which bears a physical resemblance to what is known about the wild aurochs.
The major difference is in size -- a recreated aurochs bull is not much larger than the bull of most breeds of domestic cattle, while wild aurochs bulls are believed to have often exceeded 1000 kilograms: half the size of a rhinoceros.

Then again, he's got a heck of a memory, and with fifty years experience as an executive with GM, Chrysler and Ford, in both North America and Europe, he personally had a hand in many of the industry's key developments.
Lutz wouldn't see the car, but if he did, I knew he'd be familiar with its engine, as it was originally a GM product.
Lutz hopped out and immediately gave the Triumph a look, then bent down to peer in the window, at which point I joined him and introduced myself as the owner of the car, and one of the people scheduled to interview him.

 Converted WP file 98ca-072
The Attorney General's Manual, cited by this court in Heck, states: "It is the manner in which a person subdivides the land that must be scrutinized and that ultimately controls the determination [of whether subdivision has occurred]_not the subdivider's motivation." Attorney General's Manual, supra, at 49.
We also note that the imposition of subdivision controls is a classic exercise of state police power to preserve the health, safety, and general welfare of the community.
This is consistent with Heck, in which we stressed, citing the Attorney General's Manual, that "the actions of the subdivider" bring the subdivider within the scope of the Act.

The result of their experiments to re-breed the aurochs was according to the Heck brothers quickly achieved and had a strong resemblance to the real aurochs.
Lutz released his Heck cattle into the wild in large nature areas in Germany and Poland, but Heinz kept his Heck cattle exclusively in zoos and small game parks.
The Heck brothers did not have all the information we have today, but for example the horn form was also known in their times.

In the 1920s two German zookeepers, the brothers Heinz and Lutz Heck, attempted to breed the aurochs back into existence (see breeding back) from the domestic cattle that were their descendants.
Their plan was based on the conception that a species is not extinct as long as all its genes are still present in a living population.
The result is the breed called Heck Cattle, 'Recreated Aurochs', or 'Heck Aurochs', which bears an incomplete resemblance to what is known about the physiology of the wild aurochs.

As George Lutz (Ryan Reynolds, of "Van Wilder") and his new bride, Kathy (Australian actress Melissa George), are getting a tour from a real estate agent, they're tickled that such a handsome house could be had so cheaply.
There's also a terrific set piece involving a pot-smoking babysitter, barely dressed and very come-hither, who isn't sure whether she wants to seduce the three Lutz children or scare the heck out of them.

German brothers Heinz and Lutz Heck began in the 1920s and ’30s to try to “recreate” the lost Tarpan.
The Heck brothers carefully selected horses — Gotlands, Icelandic ponies and Fjords — that showed similar bone structure and unusual markings and bred them together.
But the Stroebels point out that the Heck brothers were forced to crossbreed their horses with the Przewalski, another ancient breed, because they couldn’t get the Tarpan’s classic stand-up mane.
