This is the statue at the top, I was in too much pain to stop and take photo's on the climb sorry.
It took me an hour and a quarter to descend the Tourmelet as not only did I have no front brake but I was close to having no back brake as well as suffering from mild hypothermia.
Needless to say, when I reached Luz St.Savier at the foot of the final climb, they took my transponder away from me and suggested I go no further.

In 2003 Armstrong took Stage 15 of the Tour with a mountaintop victory on Luz Ardiden after a drama packed day in which he had a painful crash with Mayo when he got tangled in a spectator’s bag.  This climb is 13.4km at an average grade of 7.6%.
We will have lunch atop Luz Ardiden and then return to our hotel by vehicle.
The town of Lourdes is certain to be bustling with activity.  You will have the afternoon to take a stroll through town, or visit a few of the legendary sanctuaries.  Our massage therapist will be giving massage before dinner.

At the bottom of the Tourmalet we hurtled through the streets of Luz-St-Sauveur which were lined with cheering spectators, just like the real tour!
Then it was over the Pont Napoléon bridge which went across the spectacular Gorge de Luz and onto the last obstacle of the day the climb up to Luz Ardiden.
