| | Ramblers walking forums - Save the Lyke Wake Walk! |
 | | This would be a tremendous shame, since the walk, though very gruelling (40 miles within 24 hours, or, more realistically, within daylight hours for the novice), is also very rewarding, and seeped in tradition - both the tradition of prehistory and also the eccentric tradition of the Club itself. |
 | | I would say right now though, that this walk is not for the inexperienced or fainthearted, and any that attempt it would be wise to allow about 16 hours of daylight and take due regard to the weather, since the moors can become fogbound, and in places boggy in wet weather. |
 | | When you get to the end of this walk you will be rewarded by some magnificent coastline at Robin Hoods Bay and, should you wish, the luxury of a comfortable hotel, the bar of which was the finishing point for the first intrepid party in 1955. |
