Oberg’s fault-finding with Dunn’s audit centred around a lack of medical opinion in the report.
What Oberg seems to have missed in the report, and in fact repeated in a Frequently Asked Questions document circulated to MLAs and the media, was the information that each audit team consisted of an auditor and a registered nurse.
While Premier Ralph Klein quickly distanced himself from Oberg’s comments and backed Dunn’s report, this still doesn’t restore our confidence in the democratic process of debate which is being undermined by Kowalski’s inability to distance himself from the Tories.

Lyle Oberg obviously hit a nerve with his fellow caucus members when he told local supporters to vote with their conscience in this weekend’s review of Ralph Klein’s leadership.
Lyle Oberg has served the people of Alberta and this constituency well in his 13 years as a government minister and to think that a long-serving minister of the government of Alberta would intentionally threaten his peers is ridiculous.
We can see where Oberg would be a bit loose with his comments being that he was in front of a comfortable crowd of supporters in the constituency but the comment about skeletons in the closet should have been reported in the context it was offered–with a smile on his face.
