  European Liberal Youth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
European Liberal Youth (LYMEC - Liberal and Radical Youth Movement of the European Community) is an international organisation of Liberal youth movements - mostly the youth wings of members of the European Liberal, Democrat and Reform Party.
LYMEC is the official youth-wing of the ELDR Party, and holds separate votes in the statutory bodies of the ELDR Party.
The current President of LYMEC is Roger Albinyana I Saigí, whose second term in office ends in Spring 2008.

LYMEC agrees with the decision taken at the summit that all Western Balkans countries should be allowed to join the EU on an individual basis, according to their own merits.
LYMEC further urges the Western Balkans countries to continue advancing regional cooperation, to sign bilateral agreements on free trade by the end of the year, to consider cancelling visa requirements for countries in the region, and to continue the fight against organised crime, people trafficking and illegal immigration.

Local elections in Belarus were not transparent at each stage: opposition candidates were discriminated, denied registration as candidates or dropped from the race for questionable reasons; members of election commissions were selected on the basis of their loyalty to the government; observers had no real opportunity to monitor the counting of votes.
LYMEC urges that a maximum pressure is put on Lukashenkos regime, so that democracy and civil liberties can once again be reinstalled in Belarus.
LYMEC consists of 67 liberal youth and student organisations from all over Europe and has several other liberal organisations on its interested list.

LYMEC has condemned the decision of the Belarussian regime to expell a LYMEC member from Venstres Ungdom (Denmark) on Wednesday and to deny entry to half of its election team.
LYMEC and Moloda PORA (youth of PORA party, which had been at the avant garde of the Orange Revolution), are organising a public action over this week-end in Kiev:
Moloda PORA, which participated in LYMEC seminar in Kiev on 14-17 March, will apply for LYMEC membership later this year and the cooperation is already very good, as it can be seen from this joint action (see joint press release)!

It is kind of ironically that I pose my candidature for Lymec bureau 5 years later to be chosen in Switzerland.
I believe that it is one thing to contribute to and critique the work of an organisation, but at one time you have to have guts to stand up and run for bureau yourself and try to contribute from within and take criticism yourself.
It would be a dream come true to be part of LYMEC Bureau and work together to strengthen Liberalism even more in Europe.

If they are denying FF on the grounds that they are not liberal enoguh at yet are in allow other parties with very unliberal ideas (you would not count Jorg Haider among Europes great liberals) it shows us that they are a hypocritial bunch of people that have been some how brainwashed by PD proganga.
The door was slammed in their face, despite the pressure that was put on the LYMEC Bureau from higher up to get them in.

In 1977 I was asked to attend a LYMEC seminar in Bonn and one conference led to another and later that year I was elected a Vice President of the European Federation of Liberal and Radical Youth.

LYMEC, the European Liberal youth organization, has launched a series of demonstrations across Europe against Aleksandr Lukashenko`s proposal to lift the presidential term limit.

 ELDR Party - ELDR hosts photo exhibition on struggle for democracy in Belarus
In support of freedom and democracy in Belarus, the European Liberal Democrats and their youth organization LYMEC organized, in the premises of the ELDR Party in Brussels, an exhibition of photos from Belarus presidential elections, taken by Gerald G. Folly, young liberal from Austria.
Gerald Folly was the only member of LYMEC Election Observation Mission who managed to get into Belarus, after other members of the LYMEC Mission saw their visa applications denied by Lukashenko’s regime.
He stressed in his opening speech the unfading support LYMEC had been giving to Belarus opposition movement and our dedication to promoting liberal democracy throughout Europe.
