Originally the whole centre of the corridor connection was painted yellow however this was subsequently modified to the whole width of the lower cab front.
With 1498 and 1499 occupying the branch line platform 4, 1499 (which has latterly been the "dedicated" unit on the Lymington branch) pulled into platform 2 before handing over the service to the newer 3 Cigs.
