  Lympne Kent - (From Roman Castle to Tigers) - an English Village (UK)
Lympne is a small village lying on top of the cliffs which overlook Hythe and the English Channel.
The church was built by the Normans and the tower constructed in the 1100's outside the lychgate is a mounting block used by ladies in large dresses to mount their horses.
Lympne Castle a fortified manor house was built in the 1420's on the spot where the Romans had a lookout tower.

Lympne Castle and church are still there and no doubt both played their part in secreting smuggled goods brought up under cover of darkness from the Romney Marsh beaches below.
The ramparts are supposed to be haunted by the spirit of a Roman soldier which cannot bring itself to desert his look-out post, and their are other ghosts reputed to be associated with the old castle, too.
The mansion at Port Lympne was begun by Sir Herbert Baker for Sir Philip Sassoon just before the outbreak of WW1, and the gardens which are now rich with mature trees and shrubs and weathered stone and brickwork are as breathtaking as the climb up the hillside wildlife park.

The Wild Animal Park was founded by the late John Aspinall with the aim to protect and breed rare and endangered animals and release them to protected areas in the wild when it is safe and possible to do so.
Port Lympne is home to the largest group of captive bred Western Lowland Gorillas in the world.
The mixed group are housed in the impressive Palace of the Apes, whilst the males are kept in a bachelor enclosure.

It also has several ghosts, including one seen by a previous tenant, Mrs Henry Beecham, sister-in-law of Sir Thomas Beecham.
