Icarus increased its shareholding in Lyons to 98.02 percent, but was not able to compulsorily acquire the Lyons shares held by those minority shareholders who did not accept the offer as a number of the shares were acquired through the open market and not in terms of the offer.
Lyons said on Monday that it believes that given the illiquidity of Lyons shares on the JSE, the size and market capitalisation of the company and the administrative costs associated with maintaining a listing, there is little justification for the continued listing of Lyons shares on the JSE.
Lyons shares will be suspended on the JSE from the commencement of business Monday, 17 May and the shares will be delisted from the JSE from commencement of business Tuesday, 25 May, the company said.
