  Music Notes Fall 2000--Lyric fm
In June, 1998, RTÉ; announced that Lyric fm would be based in Limerick and go on the air on May 1, 1999.
But Lyric has its too: being compared either to highbrow BBC Radio 3, (with its decades of history and budget of over £60 million!) or to the enormously successful commercial model, Classic FM.
More vocal music: Lyric fm features star singers singing the big arias, largely at the behest of our UK consultant who came from the popular and successful Classic FM, and because of the taste of Irish audiences, who’ve historically taken to Italian opera.

Lyric FM Lyric fm is the latest station in the radio family of RTE (Radió Teilifìs Éireann), the national broadcaster and is based in Limerick.
Lyric is RTÉ's "cultural" service, covering classical, jazz, Irish, and world music as well as arts related concerns such as theatre and literature.
Unfortunately, most of the time Lyric fails to deliver and the choice is usually between pop drivel and classical drivel as the station clings to a "play it safe" policy that delivers a stunted repertoire of lightweight "radio favourites".
