The stage at the Lyric was large for a playhouse with a width of 29' 6" and depth of 36'.

The CZ Motorcycle parked by The Lyric Theatre hoardings belonged to the late Sir Ralph Richardson who was also an avid BMW Motorcycle owner, he was appearing at the Lyric at the time, in 'The Kingfisher'.

Initially the theatre was used for a wide variety of events - in 1905 they included a boxing match between Mike Sullivan and Joe Gans, and the first demonstration of electric cooking before a Baltimore audience.
Conductors and performers share an enthusiasm for the "glorious Lyric sound." It is because of the unique acoustical qualities and the splendor of its interior that public officials were anxious to renovate this cultural and architectural landmark.
This is the first phase in a construction plan that is intended to expand and maintain the historic Lyric Opera House as the premiere artistic venue in the city.

The Lyric Theatre has reopened after flash flooding forced the evacuation of the audience on New Years Eve.
Lyric Chairman Sid McDowell said the theatre had been closed due to "health and safety concerns" adding that he considered the building "no longer fit for the purpose".
It was announced last year that a £12 million theatre was to be built on the current site of the Lyric.

He opened the 1000 seat Lyric at 20th and Main Streets to replace his 350 seat Lyric across the street in order to provide more seating and larger stage accommodations for vaudeville.
The sixties proved to be almost fatal for the theatre, as the competition from TV and the building of new shopping center theatres caused a decline in both attendance and the physical condition of the building.
By June 1st, 1970 when the theatre was acquired by Angstadt and Wolfe Theatres, it was only a shadow of its former glory.
